This is a selection of objects fabricated from inexpensive materials found at a DIY store. Light fittings, various concretes, grout dye and sheets of copper-hued metal have been turned into functional household items.
They admit the truth of their unglamorous materiality – in contrast
to the trend of expensive and contrived industrial-looking household objects,
which aim to conceal their mass-produced nature. These DIY materials, here,
retain their DIY aesthetic.
